Welcome!

This is my first (real) post here in this binusian blog. My name is Dionisius Andrian, and I am a proud member of Binusian School of Computer Science 2019.

Why 2019? They say it will become our target of graduating as a Bachelor’s degree. Yes, within 4 years! #clapclapclap

FEP is the orientation program from Binus which includes 3 stages, here’s the detail:

1. General Orientation  (GO) – like any other university out there, it’s the same.

2. Academic Orientation (AO) – the new students time to adapt to the difference between studying in High School and in University; around 2 weeks.

3. Campus Life Orientation (CLO) – like new workers have their own seniors looking after them, Binus also provided seniors to guide the new students; the durations of this orientation will be 1 full semester.

In this post though, I will explain the GO first.

GO consists of different batch and different classes, divided by study courses. I got the 4th batch (18-22 August 2015) and DBN02 was my class.

First Day

I first went to Syahdan Campus with my friend, and meet up with her friends at Lawson. After that, we all went together to our respective meeting room ( my room was K3B). There I found myself stranded with no one I knew, except for several friends of my initial friend luckily got into the same room to give me salvation. After a while, a lot of seniors came into the room and explains who were they. They were our Buddy Coordinators ( a term for guides) for all these FEP. Then we were given a schedule for our GO. We are also tasked to remember the hymns of Binus and Binusian (confused? Too bad). Nothing much can be described further.

Second Day & Third Day

Seeing as I will live in Binus Square, I have to go to Binus earlier than the others. There were Binus Square Boarder’s Orientation too. I got angry and furiously rage quit as I knew this information. I diligently went to Anggrek Campus to attend the Boarder’s Orientation. We were explained the contact people of each divisions ( IT, Event, Maintenance, etc), the shuttle schedules, the quota of electricity, wi-fi usage, rules and warnings, etc. After that, we go to Auditorium to attend Binus Way. The event was brought by Binus 3rd rector, Drs. Andreas Chang. He told us about what it means being Binusian. Then, following the completion of Binus Way, we still have one more classes to attend; Binusian Journey. This session was brought by our dear BCs and the rest of the day was used to practice the hymns and also our hymn. It was tiring.

The third day, I also dilligently went to Binus at morning to attend another session of Boarder’s Orientation. I have no recollections of the session vividly, but I remember they described what kind of activities on BS. After finished with it, we went to auditorium again. We were introduced to a lot of Student Activity Units ( Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa [UKM]). And when I said a lot, it really means a lot; I think there are more than 20 UKM here. After that, for the third time, we were practicing the hymns until the time to go home.

Fourth Day

There are no more Boarder’s Orientation, so I didn’t go to Binus in the morning. When I got there, our class was divided into different groups based on religion. After that, we were brought to another UKM session, the religion one. Seeing as I was Catholic, I followed the session from KMK (Keluarga Mahasiswa Katolik). After we finished from it, we were told to group up at another room to be explained about BinusMaya. In short, BinusMaya provided all of our needs either for students or teachers at Binus. You can check your study schedules, study lessons, and study tasks. You can also see your score, your warning, your achievements. Everything your basic needs as a University students was provided there. After that, we practiced our hyms one last time, since the time to present it was the day after.

Fifth Day & EXPO

The last day of GO was filled with EXPO. We, as a new students, should already decided which UKM to join after session on the third day. As for me, I join a lot of UKM, such as BNCC, BNEC, Nippon Club, Swanarapala, and Badminton. Until now, I still have no regrets ( because my schedules still have a lot of free time, that’s why… lol) except for my thin wallet. All those joining an UKM made my money left me behind. #CryTearsOfJoy?

After those lengthy of struggles between losing my money and my interests winning over it, the last session came dawning on us. All of the Classes are gathered at a hall to presentate their hymns. Looking plainly now, I don’t think our class hymn was bad, instead it was one of the good one. Feeling relieved that the last session finished, I went home.

PS: You don’t know how long the session were and how hot it is being cramped with a lot of other peoples without air blowing to the room XD
